The Japanese company announced a little more than a year ago it was closing the plant as the market moved toward lighter, flat screen TVs.</div>

        <p>FirstEnergy Corp. said Thursday it agreed to pay $4.7 billion to acquire Greensburg-based Allegheny Energy Inc.</p>
<p>The new FirstEnergy, based in Akron, Ohio, would serve 6.1 million customers in seven states. The deal, approved by both companies' boards, still faces regulatory hurdles in Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. First Energy would pick up $3.8 billion in Allegheny Energy debt</p>

<p>When event coordinators for Hart Energy Publishing began planning a Pittsburgh conference for natural gas producers, they reserved space in the Westin Convention Center Hotel for the gathering.</p>
<p>"We thought we'd be doing extremely well if we had 300 people," said Leslie Haines, editor in chief of Hart's trade journal, Oil and Gas Investor.</p>

        <p>The Economic Growth Connection of Westmoreland (EGC) announced that it has successfully assisted Overly Door Company of Greensburg in obtaining financing through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA).</p>
<p>Overly Door Company&rsquo;s approval was in the amount of $550,920.&nbsp; The proceeds of this funding will be used to purchase and renovate a 60,000 square foot facility in the Greensburg-Hempfield Industrial Park.&nbsp; Overly Door Company manufactures specialty doors for a wide variety of industries.&nbsp; Overly Door Company, and its affiliate, Overly Manufacturing, have been key employers in the community since the 1800s.&nbsp; This project will create 19 new jobs in Westmoreland County over the next three years.</p>
<p>PIDA financing makes loans available for land and building acquisition or construction for industrial and manufacturing projects throughout the state.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> {extended}
